SPASMODIQUE – City Park Murders
The illustrious City Park Murders is Spasmodique's first recording since their album SIX (2016). A dark murder mystery in traditions of earlier Spasmodique songs such as The Small World and Harbourtown, where the band also show their darkest side musically. The accompanying video is a collaboration between Mark Ritsema and the makers of the well-known Adrian Borland-documentary Walking In The Opposite Direction (2016), Marc Waltman and Jean-Paul van Mierlo. An equally mysterious tribute to the grubby cult video nasties full of cheap horror and visual obscurity, which you could rent for home entertainment at the video store in the 1980s.

New album from and documentary about SPASMODIQUE coming up
Spasmodique surprises the first working day of 2022 with the release of a new single: City Park Murders. It is the first work of the illustrious Rotterdam band since the release of the album Six in 2016.
The video accompanying the new issue of the Rotterdammers looks like a mix of goth in the atmosphere of Edgar Allen Poe and more modern heart-pounding literature such as American Psycho. We see Ritsema wandering through a park, suggestively wearing black leather gloves…
MuziScene calls singer/guitarist Mark Ritsema to find out if there will be more after the single. He explains that Spasmodique celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021. That should have been accompanied by a tour and a new album. The planned party was canceled for known reasons. That is why the band is now preparing for a postponed celebration with a new album and a documentary. And of course the band hopes to be able to play live again in 2022. Watch the video below for the explanation of Mark Ritsema…
